Green Tea and Egg Hair Mask

Goodness of Green tea for hair

The green tea softens the hair follicles and promotes hair growth. It is also rich in polyphenols, vitamin “E” and vitamin “C” that promote the growth of lustrous hair. Green tea also contains catechins which can prevent hair loss. Drinking green tea can help to refresh the mind and make it stress free. Stress is one of the main reasons for hair fall.

Goodness of Eggs for your hair

The white of the eggs is rich in proteins that can strengthen the hair follicles. The egg yolk makes the hair shiny, soft and lustrous and also prevents breakage. Eggs are also loaded with vitamins that can prevent the scalp from drying. These vitamins also protect the hair from UV rays, pollution, extreme heat and  improve the texture of the hair as well.

Directions to prepare the green tea and egg hair mask:

Step 1# Break two whole eggs in a bowl and whisk it well. You can use two eggs if you have medium length hair. You can alter the recipe based on the length of your hair i.e 1 egg for short hair and 3 eggs for very long hair.

Step 2#- Brew 2 green tea bags in half a cup of water for 5 minutes. Keep the tea as strong as possible for better results. Remove the tea bags and keep aside. Do not throw the tea bags, you’ll need them later on.

Step 3#-  Cool the brewed tea and add it little by little to the egg mixture. If you add hot tea, the eggs will get cooked and you will have to start all over again. Don’t add all the tea at once as it can alter the consistency of the  hair mask.

Step 4#- Now tear open the green tea bags that you kept aside after brewing and add the powdered tea into the hair mask. Mix well so that the tea particles are evenly distributed into the hair mask.

How to apply the green tea and egg hair mask?

Start by spreading the mask evenly on the entire scalp. Divide your hair into sections and apply the hair mask in all  the sections until the entire scalp is covered with the mixture. Once the scalp is covered, work on applying the mixture on the hair strands. Apply the mixture generously from the roots till the tips and tie the hair on top and secure with a shower cap. Let  it stay for 30 minutes. Rinse the hair with warm water. Wash the hair thoroughly and remove any remains of the hair mask completely because it can dry and make your hair hard. Rinse your hair with a mild shampoo and conditioner after washing off the hair mask. Do this twice a week for best results. Dry and damaged hair locks can become soft and silky in just a few weeks of this treatment.
