1. Orgasms keep you young.

Forget plastic surgery. According to Dr. David Weeks, a clinical psychologist and former head of age psychology at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, middle aged men and women who reported having sex regularly were 50% more likely to appear younger than their counterparts who did not have sex.

2. Orgasms stimulate your brain.

Sex gets the blood flowing, that’s for sure, and that includes to your brain. Last August, researchers at Rutgers asked female subjects to masturbate while in an MRI machine to measure the flow of blood.

They found when the women achieved orgasm, blood flow to the brain increased, allowing more nutrients and oxygen to reach the brain.

Okay, this is a very controversial finding, but in a study of college students in relationships at the State University of New York in Albany found that women who had sex without condoms were less likely to be depressed than those who used protection or abstained from sex.

Of course, I don’t recommend having unprotected sex with people with whom you are not tested and fully monogamous.

7. Orgasms make your partner less likely to cheat.

One study conducted in Germany found that oxytocin, which is released when you orgasm, causes heterosexual men to be less likely to cheat and increases their attraction to their partner.

How is this a health benefit? Because monogamy is less likely to lead to the spread of STIs, many of which are achieving epidemic proportions.

8. Orgasms relieve stress.

Stress is a killer, folks, and orgasms may be the best protection. One study that interviewed 2,632 women between the ages of 23 and 90 found that those who masturbated regularly were more relaxed, a result of oxytocin, a stress-killing hormone.
